The 果冻传媒直播 Writing Center values writing as a process of discovery wherein students can explore new ideas, create new knowledge, take risks, change their minds, and dwell in spaces of uncertainty.
Through the act of writing and revising, we encourage students to think critically and independently by asking questions and serving as sounding boards for peer writers. By engaging in conversation, student writers can test theories and discover new avenues of thought to bolster an argument or explore a hypothesis.
Our consultants are trained to help student writers find solutions and make decisions about how they communicate through writing. Ultimately, our writing center seeks to facilitate the growth, academic success, and self-discovery of all Stevenson students through a dialogical exploration of ideas and communicative choices.

Meet our Writing Consultants
Chade began working in the Writing Center during her senior year and specifically as a writing consultant in the spring semester. Chade has expertise that includes tutoring elementary school children in grammar and reading comprehension during the summers. Chade also recently completed ENG222, affording her ample opportunities to assist students with their writing assignments. Moreover, she has contributed to the Greenspring Review and engaged in fieldwork for education majors. Chade wanted to become a writing consultant primarily because of her future career goals as a dyslexic specialist. She hopes to teach English abroad in the future, and values the experience her role in the Writing Center will provide. For Chade, the most rewarding aspect of the job is witnessing the individuals she’s assisted grow in confidence and satisfaction with their abilities to independently accomplish their writing assignments.
Jacob started working at the writing center the Fall semester of 2023 after serving as a volunteer during the fall of 2022. Jacob gained one-on-one tutoring experience in ENG222, and as a future Middle School ELA teacher, he has a wide breadth of experience working with students on their writing due to his field placements. Jacob decided to become a Writing Consultant because he thoroughly enjoys the experience of helping his peers. He is passionate about writing as a creative outlet and enjoys inspiring that passion in others as well. For Jacob, the best part of the job is seeing all the different kinds of interesting papers students bring in for consulting.
Lauren started working in the Writing Center in the spring semester of 2023. Lauren is an elementary education major with a psychology minor and specializes in Writing for Psychology (PSY201), education classes, and First-Year Writing classes. She also gained experience in Writing Consulting from taking ENG222 in fall of 2022. Lauren especially enjoys working with students on shorter, non-traditional writing assignments like emails, mini-paragraphs for brochures and pamphlets, and small information blurbs for websites. While Lauren is an elementary education major, she enjoys the challenge of working with college-level students, especially when it comes to working on grammar and organization in student essays. What Lauren loves about working in the Writing Center is meeting students who she wouldn鈥檛 have met otherwise, and helping students feel comfortable, heard, and supported. In addition to being a Writing Consultant, Lauren is in the Honors Program, the Service Scholars Program, and is a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Psi Chi. She is also the secretary for Stevenson鈥檚 chapter of Teachers of Tomorrow, serves as the Phi Mu Honor Chairwoman and the Phi Mu Chapter Representative for Fraternity and Sorority Life.
Logan started working in the Writing Center as a volunteer during the Fall 2023 semester. Logan is an English major with strong writing and proofreading skills as well as expertise as a Writing Consultant after training in ENG222. Logan also has professional experience in editing having worked for the Greenspring Review. Logan wanted to become a Writing Consultant based on their future goals for teaching. To Logan, the best part of their job is being able to help students feel capable and confident in their skills by helping them learn more techniques for organizing and communicating their writing.
Marisa began working in the Writing Center during the spring of 2024. During her freshman year she served on the Greenspring Review as an assistant prose editor and has progressed to the role of Prose Section Editor since September 2023. Marisa has served as a subject tutor for Math, Biology, and Chemistry and has served as the Organic Chemistry I PAL Leader since September. Her experience in science writing makes her an exceptionally versatile Writing Consultant in the Center. Marisa decided to become a Writing Consultant because she has always enjoyed reading and writing and wanted to help others improve their writing. Marisa is a Biochemistry major, she wanted to continue incorporating writing into her daily life, and working with the Writing Center and the Greenspring Review accomplished this goal. For Marisa, the best part of being a Writing Consultant is connecting with other students. She loves seeing people that she has worked with around campus and saying hi to them, outside of her role as Writing Consultant.
Nick聽began working in the Writing Center in 2024 after taking ENG222 and providing聽many聽volunteer hours in the Writing Center. Nick is a member of the聽Greenspring Review聽where he serves as an Assistant Prose Editor, editing writing submitted by fellow students. Nick wanted to become a writing consultant because his unique perspective helps other students. Having been on both sides of the tutoring session, he provides a perspective that is relatable to most students. The best part of the job is working with the same student multiple times.
Samantha (Sam) began tutoring in the Spring semester of 2022. Sam is an English major with experience tutoring writing assignments for English classes, including argumentative essays, rhetorical essays, persuasive essays, and personal narratives. She is also experienced working with students on all of the assignments for MGT 210: Business Writing. Sam became a Writing Consultant to prepare for her future career as a high school teacher. She believes there’s a lot of power in being able to read, write, and research well. For Sam, the best part of working in the Writing Center is being able to create connections with peers that have completely different skillsets than her and growing together. Sam believes that every student that comes into the Writing Center is impressive in their own unique way!
