Parking Information

The following regulations have been designed for the general safety of the campus community. These regulations apply to all students, faculty, and staff members of ¹û¶³´«Ã½Ö±²¥. All rules and regulations will be enforced.

General Information

Pedestrians at intersections and designated crosswalks have the right-of-way at all times. The maximum speed limit on roadways and in all parking areas on both campuses is 15 miles per hour. Traffic signs have been installed for your protection and safety. Please drive with extreme caution for your safety and the safety of others.

Parking on Campus

Below are the regular semester parking regulations that all faculty, staff, and students should follow. Exceptions will be communicated as needed.

South Campus

Lot A (Mustang Stadium Lot) â€“ Faculty/Staff, Resident Student, Commuter Student, and Visitor Parking

Lot B (Caves Parking Lot) â€“ Faculty/Staff and Commuter Student Parking

Lot C (SOBL Parking Lot) â€“ Authorized Faculty and Admissions Visitors Parking. NO parking in the admissions visitors spots. Open parking for properly tagged SU Commuter students, Faculty, and Staff is permitted in Lot C Mon.-Fri, 5:00 p.m.-midnight, and all-day Sat.-Sun. Vehicles must be moved by midnight on Sunday.

Lot D (Rockland Parking Lot) â€“ Resident Student Parking

Lot E (Residence Hall Parking Lots) â€“ Resident Student Parking

Lot F (Rear of Rockland Parking Lot) â€“ Authorized Employees Only

Lot G (Wooded Way Parking Lot) â€“ Authorized Wooded Way Resident Students and Authorized Faculty/Staff Only


North Campus

Commuter Students are permitted to park at North Campus. If the North Campus lots are full, overflow parking for Commuters is available in the Mustang Stadium lot.

Faculty/Staff assigned to North Campus are permitted to park at North Campus. Parking may be limited for other Faculty/Staff. Shuttles are available throughout the day from the Ratcliffe Community Center and Mustang Stadium to take students, faculty, and staff to North Campus and back.

Resident students will not be permitted to park at North Campus except during open parking hours (see “Open Parking Hours at North Campus” below) or unless otherwise directed for special events.

Resident students are encouraged to use the Dell Family Pathway between South and North Campus or SU Shuttles that run regularly to and from the Ratcliffe Community Center and Mustang Stadium stop to North Campus.

Open Parking Hours at North Campus

Open parking is permitted for all Faculty, Staff, and Students after 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, after 2 p.m. on Fridays, and from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.


East Campus

East Campus is open dusk to dawn for access off Garrison Forrest Road Entrance. No overnight parking or non-event parking allowed.

No parking along main entrances roadways from Garrison Forrest or North Campus. Cars will be towed if parked along roadway.

Two designated Bus Parking spots along Mustang Way are for buses only.

Student parking for practices and games is allowed along Mustang Way past the designated Bus Parking on the designated side of the road.

Lot A (Baseball Area) â€“ Fan parking for game day operations. Student parking allowed during practice sessions with no game day operations.

Lot B (Lower Parking Area) – Fan parking for game day operations. Student parking allowed during practice sessions with no game day operations.

Lot C (Small Lot and Grass Overflow Lot) – Parking for visiting teams and overflow parking only. SU student athletes are encouraged to park along Mustang Way past the designated Bus Parking spots or in this lot during all game day operations.


Greenspring Campus

Resident and Commuter students are permitted to park in any unrestricted general parking area at Greenspring. Restricted areas include but are not limited to:

  • Cottage Lane
  • Administration area
  • Faculty areas
  • Visitor areas in the front circle
  • Visitor areas in front of Knott Hall

Faculty and Staff are permitted to park in any unrestricted general parking areas.

Parking or driving is prohibited on grass plots, tree plots, construction areas, or where it will physically mar the landscaping of the campus, create a safety hazard, interfere with the use of University facilities or hinder the free movement of traffic.

Visitor Parking

¹û¶³´«Ã½Ö±²¥ Campus (Owings Mills)

All visitors of residential students will be required to park in Lot A (Mustang Stadium Lot). Overnight guests must register and obtain a Visitors Parking Pass from the Campus Safety Office in the Ratcliffe Community Center and park their vehicles in Lot A.

North Campus (Owings Mills)

Visitor parking spaces are located in front of the School of Design, Arts, and Communication building, along the front of the Manning Academic Center (MAC) or in the parking lot adjacent to the MAC.

Greenspring Campus

Visitor parking is located on the front circle of the University with a two-hour time limit. These reserved spaces are not to be used by students or employees of the University.

Registration of Personal Vehicles

All personal vehicles that will be parked on Stevenson’s campuses in Owings Mills or Greenspring must be registered before the first day of class. Registration hang tags must be visible on the dash or hanging from the rear-view mirror anytime a vehicle is on campus.

Vehicle registration and parking hang tags may be obtained at the following locations:

Resident Students and Commuter Students: The Campus Safety Office in the Ratcliffe Community Center (OM).

Faculty and Staff: The Human Resources Office in the Manuszak Center (GS) or the Campus Safety Office in the Ratcliffe Community Center (OM).

Handicap & Special Needs Parking

Maryland Law and ¹û¶³´«Ã½Ö±²¥ policy restrict the use of handicap spaces to individuals with special needs.

Persons with special needs are requested to register their vehicles with Campus Safety Office so that arrangements can be made to ensure that an appropriate parking space is available for them while attending classes at ¹û¶³´«Ã½Ö±²¥.

Temporary handicap permits are available to faculty, staff, and students f​​or short and long-term convalescence by contacting Campus Safety Office at 443-352-4500.

Fines & Appeals

Fee schedule for parking violations:

  • General parking violations: $50 for each offense
  • Parking in handicapped spaces: $152 for each offense
  • Moving violations including speed, failure to stop at stop signs, etc.: $75 for each offense
  • Failure to register a vehicle: $100

Fines must be paid in the Student Accounts Office located in Garrison Student Union North Lobby on the Owings Mills Campus within 30 days from the date the ticket was issued.

If the fine is not paid, a financial hold will be assessed preventing further registration activity until payment is received.

Any violation that requires a Maryland State Motor Vehicle record check will have a surcharge of $35 added to the fine.

Citations may be appealed.


Appeals

Members of the University wishing to appeal a citation should submit a copy of the citation and three (3) copies of a typewritten appeal to the Security Director describing in detail why the fine is being appealed. The appeal must be filed within 30 days from the date of the parking violation notice.

The Citation Appeals Board will convene about once a month to consider written appeals. Decisions will be by majority vote of the Board. A written memo will be sent to the appellant stating the decision of the Board. The decisions of the Citation Appeals Board are final.
