Temi Oseromi, a Master鈥檚 in Nursing Leadership/Management student who is on par to graduate this August, is a Nurse Manager at Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). As a nurse leader, Temi oversees the operations in her 26-bed unit by maintaining optimal staffing, interviewing/hiring personnel, mentoring, ensuring quality care, communicating initiatives, improving the unit-level processes, and monitoring the unit鈥檚 financial status.

From a young age, Temi had a passion for caring for others. Naturally, she knew she wanted to enter the healthcare field. After having the opportunity to work at a long-term care facility, she knew that nursing was her calling. Temi鈥檚 favorite part of her job is providing support to the frontline staff. Every day, she seeks to eliminate the hindrances that may impede her team鈥檚 ability to offer the best care possible. Moreover, she enjoys speaking with patients and providing them with comfort and support.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, she ensures that her unit is apprised of the virus鈥檚 current impact so that her team can take the necessary precautions. She attributes her unit鈥檚 success to timely communication, prioritizing staff concerns, and holding open and honest discussions so that any personal and professional challenges can be identified and addressed. Despite the resulting difficulties of the pandemic, Temi鈥檚 motivation has remained unfazed. She attributes her continued enthusiasm to seeing her patients thrive and her nurses excel.

She decided to pursue a Master鈥檚 in Nursing Leadership/Management from 果冻传媒直播 Online (SUO) because she was certain that it would equip her with the knowledge necessary and the leadership qualities required to achieve her professional aspirations. 鈥淭he [SUO] online learning model worked well with my busy work schedule and, more importantly, accommodated [my] family obligations.”

Having nearly completed her Master鈥檚 in Nursing Leadership/Management, she believes that the communication skills, data applications, and leadership attributes that she has acquired from this program will propel her to new heights. She offers the following sage advice, enroll without delay as there are 鈥渘umerous support systems” to help you along the way. 鈥淭he program is manageable [and] the knowledge is valuable.”

In a statement reflecting on National Nurses Week (May 6-12), she remarked that nurses go to work every day unaware of the challenges that lie ahead, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated the uncertainty innate with the profession. To remain motivated, empathetic, and compassionate with all that is transpiring in the world around us, takes 鈥渆xtraordinary courage.”
