Bachelor’s to Master’s student Caroline Izzi earned her bachelor’s in Business Communication and is currently working on her master’s in Communication Studies. To Caroline, it was a “no-brainer” to enroll into the Bachelor’s to Master’s Option at Stevenson. She notes, “The Bachelor’s to Master’s Option is genius…it saves time and money, two valuable components in today’s climate.”

Throughout her time at Stevenson, Caroline has been heavily involved at the University in numerous offices including Residence Life, Admissions, National Residence Hall Honorary, Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society, 47’ House Communication Club, Alpha Chi Honor Society, Rho Alpha Sigma Resident Assistant Honor Society, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She has also completed internships at Ironmark, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, the Maryland Zoo and Tenable which have prepared her to start a career in communication.

Currently, Caroline works as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Success at Stevenson and has taken on many projects including designing flyers, producing videos, and policy writing. She attributes her successes at multiple internships to the Business Communication bachelor’s program and Communication Studies master’s program. She says, “The programs equip you with a myriad of skills and abilities that are high on employers’ lists.” Caroline also notes that both the undergraduate and graduate programs teach the value of working in diverse environments and with different populations. Through both programs, she has learned how to shape communications to fit the audience in order to be more effective.

As a student, Caroline has experienced the great support offered by Stevenson’s faculty and staff. She explains, “The Stevenson faculty are one of my greatest resources as a student. They go above and beyond to make sure you’re where you need to be in the program. If you need a connection for an internship opportunity or an extra pair of eyes to review your resume, they’re ready to help.”

In May 2018, Caroline received the Orsia F. Young Leadership Award. This award is bestowed upon graduating students who have performed in an outstanding manner as leaders in the University community, initiated action, motivated others to do so, and been agents for positive change in the University. Caroline will graduate with her master’s in May and will pursue a position in the marketing and communications field.
