Stevenson Mock Trial Places First, Sweeps Awards at Regional Tournament against Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, and others

¹û¶³´«Ã½Ö±²¥â€™s two Mock Trial teams competed in the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) Regional Tournament hosted by Haverford College on February 24-25. Stevenson Mock Trial received a historic number of awards during the two-day competition, while competing against teams from Franklin and Marshall College, Johns Hopkins University, Drexel University, Haverford College, La Salle University, Rutgers University, and George Washington University.

Stevenson Mock Trial won all judges’ ballots but one, that ended in a tie, giving the team the best record in the tournament. Stevenson was the first team to move on to the Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS), the second round of the AMTA’s annual national tournament structure. By progressing to the ORCS, Stevenson will compete against other top teams from regional tournaments from around the country.

For its overall display of civility, character, and fair play, Stevenson won the prestigious Spirit of the American Mock Trial Association award. Team members also collected six individual awards—one quarter of all the awards available for all 24 teams in the competition. Andrew Cox and Melanie Lopez won Outstanding Witness awards, Ahad Khan and Kori Thompson received Outstanding Attorney awards, and Kandi Mkpasi received both awards.

Stevenson Mock Trial will next compete at the Opening Round Championship Series hosted by George Washington University on March 9-10.
